Class Syllabus and Classroom Rules

Course Objectives
The small gas engines class will provide students with basic knowledge
concerning small engine construction, how it works, how to maintain them,
and be able to rebuild them (mostly 4-stroke engines). The first three
to five weeks will be spent learning the subject matter by instruction.
Teacher Expectations
Students will be expected to conduct themselves appropriately in the shop,
here are some examples:
1. Students will take immediate direction from the instructor.
2. No horse play (running, pushing, etc.).
3. Do not tamper with others projects.
4. Keep your area clean at all times.
5. Place all tools in the correct place.
6.Place all flammables in the appropriate place.
7.Safety is always the first priority.
Discipline Plan
1. First Offense, Warning (loss of participation points)
2. Second Offense, Removed from class
3.If removed from class two times, possible ejection from class (or if
the student’s first action is dangerous to others).
Grading Policy
50%- Tests/Quizzes/Homework Quizzes
40%- Homework/Notes/Daily Project Reports
10%- Participation
Student’s Projects
Students must provide their own projects, four-stroke engines only, like
lawn mowers, generators, water pumps, etc.
The students/owner must pay for the rebuild kits.
